Project ENKI is the Emergency Network turning Knowledge into Actionable Intelligence

We save lives and protect communities by turning fragmented flood data into real-time, actionable intelligence that reaches the hands of those most at risk. Combining cutting-edge environmental science with a uniquely effective problem-solving methodology, we bring solutions from concept to permanent corrective action—at the community level.

Communication

Turning flood data into life-saving action—clear alerts, smarter maps, and real-time guidance when seconds matter.

Through our Flood Emergency Network, we deliver alerts and visualizations that show not just where flooding is happening, but how it impacts you and your community. From interactive maps to geolocated evacuation routes and, eventually, water quality notifications, our platform ensures critical information reaches those who need it most—fast, accurate, and actionable.

Education

Empowering communities with the knowledge and skills to prepare, survive, and thrive in the face of floods.

Turning knowledge into actionable intelligence is how we will save lives. Project Enki’s education initiatives empower individuals and communities to prepare, respond, and recover from flood events. Through immersive camps, hands-on workshops, certifications, accessible learning materials, and survival training, we bridge science with everyday action. Our goal is to equip people of all ages with the tools and confidence to use our platform effectively, make informed decisions, and build long-term resilience.

Tracy Fanara, PhD

Dr. Tracy Fanara is a nationally recognized expert in stormwater hydrology, coastal science and science communication with a B.S., M.E. and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida (UF). She has led projects across government, academia, non-profits, and industry, including her recent role serving as NOAA’s Coastal Modeling Portfolio Manager, where she worked to advance coastal modeling systems nationwide. After a decade of designing stormwater systems and performing flood analyses around the world, she directed the Environmental Health program at Mote Marine Laboratory where she developed real-time environmental data tools used by millions and built citizen science networks that trained volunteers to collect critical data.

A dynamic communicator featured on Discovery, National Geographic, FOX and The Weather Channel, Dr. Fanara translates complex science into action that saves lives. Tracy designs grade school curricula, leads immersive STEM and watershed hydrology camps; and trains communities in survival and resilience, ensuring that science empowers people of all ages to prepare for extreme environmental events.Tracy is on the Board of the Center for Coastal Solutions and UF Alumni, is the Chair of the AMS Committee on Ecoforecasting, was a finalist to go to the moon, was a National Science Foundation SPICE Fellow, selected as a Presidential Management Fellow, was an EPA Rainworks Challenge Champion twice, was named Xylem YSI’s Mission: Water Hero, and was featured in Marvel’s Unstoppable Wasp which led to her co-produced comic series, Seekers of Science.
